Peter Tyson
Founder and Head of Intelligence
With 19 years in the intelligence community, Peter is a seasoned open source intelligence (OSINT) expert dedicated to advancing OSINT capabilities across the public and private sector.
Since joining the New Zealand Police in 2019, Peter established and then led the development of the Police’s open source intelligence capability, building an OSINT team that has become a model for government OSINT effectiveness.
In 2020, Peter was honored with the Practitioner Achievement Award from the New Zealand Institute of Intelligence Professionals for outstanding contributions to the field. This award recognized his leadership in building the Police’s OSINT team and founding a New Zealand Government OSINT community.
In 2023, Peter received a Commendation from the New Zealand Police Commissioner for ongoing achievements in the creation and strengthening of New Zealand Police’s OSINT operations.
As an experienced trainer and sought-after OSINT expert, Peter has led the OSINT training of over 400 staff within New Zealand Police and other government agencies. He has shared his expertise at OSINT conferences and is recognized for his in-depth knowledge of OSINT tradecraft, policy development, and the transformation of intelligence into actionable insights.
